A clean, slightly cinematic photo of a designer at a wooden desk with two monitors. One screen shows the Cursor editor with Astro code; the other shows a finished, beautiful website preview. Warm natural light, plant in the corner, a coffee. Muted palette with a single accent of brand blue.

Who this is for

public/assets/masterclass/who-for.webp

A freelance web designer at a laptop looking relieved — Elementor or WordPress chaos fading on one screen, a clean fast Astro site on the other. Warm, approachable, not stiff stock photography.

If that's you, this masterclass is the most direct route we know from where you are to where modern web design is heading. Read why we left Elementor.

Curriculum

What you'll learn

Module 01

How to migrate your old Elementor website

The real process, end-to-end. Auditing what's worth keeping, exporting your content cleanly, rebuilding the structure in Astro, redirecting old URLs, and going live without breaking your SEO. We'll walk through a real client migration on screen — every step, no shortcuts hidden.

Module 1 — Migration

Stylised illustration of an old WordPress site dissolving into clean Astro code blocks flowing into a new browser window.

Module 02

How to set up your Cursor workflow

The exact editor setup we use every day at Dotwall. Settings, extensions, keyboard shortcuts, the prompts that turn Cursor into a second pair of hands. By the end of the session your machine will be configured the same way ours is — same shortcuts, same speed, same output.

Module 2 — Cursor

Cursor editor interface with a glowing AI prompt bar at the bottom, clean code appearing in real time.

Module 03

Why this matters to your clients

Faster sites that rank better. Lower hosting bills. No more 9am "the site's down" phone calls. A maintenance story that actually makes sense. We'll show you how to position the new stack to existing and prospective clients — so they say yes, and so they pay more for it.

Module 3 — Client value

Split screen: a frustrated client on the phone (left, muted greys) vs. a happy client looking at a fast-loading site on their phone (right, warm tones).

Module 04

How to maintain it

What "maintenance" looks like when there's no WordPress to update and no plugins to babysit. Git workflows for small content changes. How to hand off to a client who wants to edit copy themselves. How to scale to dozens of client sites without losing your weekends.

Module 4 — Maintenance

A simple flow diagram: edit → commit → push → deploy, with a small green tick at the end. Friendly, minimal.

Module 05

How to attach a CMS

The question every freelancer asks: how do clients edit their own content if there's no WordPress dashboard? We'll set up a headless CMS (Sanity, Decap or Storyblok depending on the use case), connect it to Astro's content collections, and show you the kind of editing experience clients actually enjoy using.

Module 5 — CMS

Module 06

The full prompt library — included

Every prompt we use, written out, yours to keep. Hero sections, pricing tables, blog templates, contact forms, SEO metadata, image alt text, schema markup. You walk away with a working prompt library you can use on Monday morning to start shipping faster than you did last week.

Why Dotwall

Real client work, not a course someone's guessing at

We're Dotwall, a web design studio based in Leicester. We've been progressively migrating our own client base off Elementor and onto Astro — every new project we take on now uses this stack, and every legacy site moves across as it comes up for refresh.

This masterclass is the workflow we've built doing that work. Real client projects, real lessons, real shortcuts — including the bits that didn't work the first time.

FAQ

Masterclass FAQs

Video pack, 1-2-1, tools, refunds — answered.

What's the difference between the video pack and the 1-2-1?

The video pack gives you everything you need to learn the workflow on your own time — the full tutorial, the PDFs, the starter repo, the prompts. The 1-2-1 includes all of that plus a 2-hour live session with us, so you can apply it to your specific projects and get answers in real time.

Can I upgrade from the video pack to the 1-2-1 later?

Yes. If you start with the £99 video pack and later want a 1-2-1, you only pay the difference — £300+VAT.

Do I need to be a developer to take this?

No — you don't need to know how to code. Ben, who owns Dotwall, is a no-code web designer by background, not a developer. He made the switch from Elementor to Astro easily, with Cursor and Claude doing the heavy lifting. If you can run a page builder, you can learn this workflow with the right guidance.

What if I'm not using Elementor — does this still apply?

Yes. The migration section applies to any WordPress page builder — Divi, WPBakery, Bricks, Beaver Builder. The rest of the masterclass is stack-agnostic.

Do I need to buy Cursor and Claude Code beforehand?

We recommend it so you can follow along. Cursor has a free tier; Claude Code has a free tier with a paid plan recommended once you're using it daily. Total cost to get started: under £20/month.

What about clients who insist on a WordPress dashboard?

We cover this. The two strong answers are: a headless CMS that gives them a cleaner editing experience than WordPress ever did, or — for rare cases — keeping WordPress as a back-end and rebuilding only the front-end in Astro. You'll leave knowing both approaches.

Is there a refund policy?

If you finish the video pack and don't feel it was worth £99, we'll refund you in full — no forms, no follow-up calls. The 1-2-1 is non-refundable once the call has taken place, but if we have to cancel or reschedule, you get a full refund.
