We’ve just launched a new website for North’s Deli, the third-generation delicatessen, patisserie and café on Station Road in Rothley, Leicestershire.

North’s has been part of Rothley since 1937. David behind the cheese counter, Dominic leading the kitchen, signature Bagatelles and Chocolate Truffles made in house, and a boutique café beside the Great Central Railway. The old WordPress, WooCommerce and Elementor setup struggled to keep up with how the business actually sells cakes. This rebuild replaces that stack with a fast Astro site and a proper collection-only shop.
So the new site is built around that:
- Heritage that owns the first screen. “Rothley’s family deli, three generations in the making”, clear Order cakes online and Gift vouchers paths, and 4.6 stars from 236 Google reviews above the fold.
- A real online cake shop, not a bolted-on cart. Size options, personalised plaque messages, seasonal ordering windows, Stripe checkout, and collection dates driven by the shop’s own calendar and lead times. Order online, collect from Rothley.
- Deli, patisserie and café as equal stories. Dedicated pages for the cheese counter, handmade patisserie, North’s Café, catering, wholesale and wedding cakes, so visitors land where they meant to.
- Admin that matches how the kitchen works. Orders, PDF invoices, kitchen order sheets, products, categories, collection calendar, enquiries and staff users, so the team can run the day without fighting the CMS.
- Fast, lightweight Astro build. No bloated theme, no page-builder drag. Loads cleanly on a phone when someone is ordering a birthday cake on the way home.
