What is Google my business? Google my business is the profile page you see when you search for a business on Google.com. This profile works better for smaller, local businesses but also works for larger organisations.
How I got my first client through my GMB (Google my business) page
Ever since I started designing websites in 2020, I’ve been extremely fortunate as all of my business has come via referral or word-of-mouth. This is amazing, and a real testament to the fact that doing great work leads to bigger things.
However, back in December, I had a message from a local business asking if I could do a quote for them. After submitting a web design proposal, I was speaking to the client and I asked “Where did you find me (dotwall)?”. Their answer? Google. Their business is located within 3-miles of mine, they had Google’d ‘web design near me’, and dotwall came up. Brilliant!
Why did they choose me?
They told me they chose me to design their new website based on my five-star reviews – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. They saw my listing on Google, saw that I had 20 5-star reviews and decided to give me a shot. Amazing eh?
It speaks volumes about the power of reviews. There is a statistic somewhere that says 80% of consumers are more likely to buy from you if they can see (⭐️) someone else has had a good experience. And it’s so true. Every time I’m looking for somewhere to eat or somewhere to buy from, I always look at the reviews. Whether it’s Trustpilot, Google, Facebook or somewhere else to see whether that business is credible. Reviews are soooo crucial to the success of local businesses, especially in 2021.
